Chicago's MobFest 2008
Will You Get Signed?

MOBfest has become an ally to the A&R community on both coasts. Throughout the year, MOBfest organizers are in constant contact with major label representatives, and continuously provide information and support to these labels in helping them find new talent.

MOBfest was designed to aid in creating awareness for the Chicago music scene, and the hard working groups in it.  We are in the music exposure business. Our focus is to help establish relationships between bands and labels.

MOBfest can be the first step in building a foundation or the last step in closing a deal. We act locally, but think Nationally.  MOBfest focuses on National exposure, as that has become the next frontier for the Artists in our local scene.

* David Andreone, Warner Chappell
"Of all the festivals that I attend year after year, Mobfest is the only one that I've directly signed a band from"

* Peter Margasak, Chicago Reader
"The presence of scouts from Elektra, A&M, Epic, Columbia Capitol, Virgin and Sony's 550 Music, does testify to the caliber of Jansen's contacts"

* MaryAnn Malone - Arista Records
"Mobfest was great.  I saw a new band called assassins at the double door and eventually signed them to my label."

* Peter Coquillard, HITCO Music Publishing
"Last year I signed an Artist I heard from the Demo Listening Panel"

* josh Sarubin, Arista Records
"I come to Chicago year after year and i have seen some great bands... one of which I signed from Mobfest 2000"

What is Mobfest?

MOBfest is a three day music business seminar focused on building a
buzz, aiding in awareness, and peaking the interest of the music
business community. Though what we do is based in and around the Chicago
music community, we are not limited to Chicago, and welcome bands and
artists from anywhere and everywhere. MOBfest came to life in the summer
of 1997, with the help of some of Chicago's most prolific music industry
players, showcasing dozens of bands at Chicago's premier music venues.
The focus of MOBfest is to  organize music business panels that feature
many of the country's music industry "movers  and shakers" giving some
insight and direction to the attendees wanting to break into this
business of music.

Past panelists have included:
Warner Bros, MCA, RCA, Epic, Sony, Aware, Columbia, EMI Music,
Warner Chappell, HITCO Publishing,

We are here to provide an opportunity
for those who engage.  We supply the
platform, the information and the
network.  MOBfest  is geared to those
artists that have already  achieved
some regional success and are
ready for exposure in the national
music community.

FAQ

Q: What kind of bands can participate?
A: At MOBfest we are open to any and all kinds of music. Having said that, we are limited
in some ways by the participating venue policies.

Q: If I submit a demo do I automatically get a spot on the MOBfest bill?
A: No. Each demo submitted will be reviewed by  a committee, and selected artists will be
forwarded to participating club owners and  talent buyers for final determination.

Q: Do you have to have any prior show experience to play a showcase slot?
A: Yes, the showcases are selected with the heavy influence of the club owners
and talent buyers. Most showcasing bands should have some prior history
with the club scene and experience playing out.

Q: Do I have to submit separately for the demo listening panel or compilation CD?
A: No. Once you have sent in one CD, it is in consideration for all 3 avenues of exposure.

Q: If I submit a demo, and I am not selected for any of the categories, do I get it back?
A: No

Q: Can I play more than one MOBfest date at a different venue?
A: No

Q: How long of a set do we get to play?
A:
Once selected to play, you will deal directly with that venue for all showcase questions.
